英単語は1日何個覚えればいい？
こんにちは！川口市の学習塾【個別指導塾KCE】の樫田です。
英語の勉強において避けて通れないのが英単語の暗記ですよね。単語だけを何回も何十回も覚えさせられた方がほとんどだと思います。
事実、英単語を覚えることは英語の長文問題を解く上で必須事項で、英単語を制する者が長文を制すると言っても過言ではありません。
では、英単語は1日どれくらい覚えればいいのでしょうか？
現在の学習指導要領では、高校受験で必要な英単語数は2000語以上と言われています。小学5年～中学3年の間でこの数を覚えるのはそう簡単ではありません。新しい単語が続々登場する上にあまり出てこない単語は忘れていく。何度も同じ単語を覚えなければいけないので、実際に覚えるために読み書きする回数はその何倍もあります。
ですが、完全に暗記できるようになると、何年も見ていない単語ですら読むことができ、意味もわかる。記憶にしっかりと定着させることで勉強の必要が無くなるのも事実です。そのために必要な暗記方法は、一度にたくさん覚えようとするのではなく、
単語数を決めて周回する
ことです。1日に何個覚えようと決めるのではなく、1日に何個書く、もしくは読むと決め、5日間繰り返すのです。
例えば1日100個書くと決めたらまず書く。答え合わせをしてその日は終わり。2～5日目も同じことを繰り返すと5日目にはほとんどの単語が書けるようになっているはずです。これを週ごとに単語を変えると1ヶ月で400個。5か月で2000個暗記したことになります。
暗記において1日で1000個覚えるなど、近道はありません。5日目に覚えていればいいのです。記憶力には個人差があるので勿論一度に覚えられる数に差はありますが、この5日間反復法を使えばほぼ確実に暗記数を増やすことができます。
